The area around Vienna’s old Gasometers is a blend of industrial artefacts and diverse urban uses. Its history as a former flood plain however is long forgotten. My design seeks to reconnect the site with this floodplain past by reintroducing a dense, forest-like landscape into the city. A network of open paths invites for its exploration and a central clearing provides space for recreation and community activities. An activity band with a playground and training zone surrounds its open core. Wooden decks offer places to rest, while artistic objects crafted from recycled material evoke the site’s industrial past.
